Panayiotis Toumazi, the founder of the group, was one of the first Cypriots to graduate the National Metsovio Polytechnic of Athens as a civil engineer. Upon completion of his studies he returned to Cyprus in 1937 and opened an Engineering Design office in Famagusta which he named PANTOUMAZIS. In 1957 he also founded ATLAS KATASKEVE LTD and in 1963 PANTOUMAZIS LTD was established. Following the Turkish invasion in 1974 the companies moved their headquarters to Limassol and by 1975 ATLASPANTOU CO LTD was founded as the successor of the two companies, as reflected by the merging of the companies' names (ATLAS KATASKEVE LTD and PANTOUMAZIS LTD). In the late 1980’s the company expanded its scope of operations further by establishing the other subsidiaries which form the group as it is today.
